I love how the music changes depending on how the battle progresses, like Revengeance.
Everyone and their mother knows of the glorious soundtrack of SOTN, but not everyone knows of the best damn song that everyone outside of Japan missed.

One of muh faves.
It sounds like an updated rendition of NES Ninja Gaiden. If only 3d NG had music like this, it'd make an already perfect game even more perfect. I don't have faith in TN ever making another gud NG. Nioh is damn great and I actually like it better than any of Itagaki's games, but what makes Nioh good are its rpg stat building elements. As an action game it fails at the same exact shit that Ninja Garden 3 failed at. The plus side is that you can completely negate the cheap as fuck enemies by respeccing your build into something that's even more broken than the enemies are.
Speaking of NG, one of my fave tracks from the original.
This shit is so hardcore. I like how it sounds like a trippy hip hop fusion with Ninja's stepping over water.
Too bad NG1 was the only 3d NG game to have music like this.
It sounds like a Ninja version of Nioh's ost.
The other two NG are just generic rock. It has none of the atmosphere that NG1 had.

This is one of those Dreamcast games that never saw the light of day in English named Roomania #203. From what I've learned, it was made by one of artist for the original PSO, which had some awesome music by my standard. She was apparently into watching random webcams at the time and made a game based on it. The main character in the is a fan of this idol in the games universe named Serani Poji whom the game creator herself does the voice for. Their is just something about this music that I find irresistible. Its like the music from the first Katamari Demacy.
I have no idea where this song is from or even if its game music, but its catchy as fuck.
Also, wasn't there another video game music thread?

LOL I saw that Spiral girl and I was like, is that Rumi? (Some female rapper who raps about dark gothic shit.) It fucking looks like Rumi. No it's not her. That genre of music in your videos is Shibuya Kei Jazz. I talked about it a bit at the other forum.
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/killer7fr/...-t2469-s20.htmlQUOTEHoly shit the music is fucking good.
They're using Shibuya Kei which is the same genre of music that I use for this website. Well United Jazzy is more of a hiphop influenced form of the Shibuya sound but the key ingredients are still there.
I'm not sure who sang the Persona 5 themes, but the vocalist friggin sounds like Monday Michiru. I can't believe she's still in the business. She has to be about 60 years old by now. Still hot though.

Nobody uploaded my fave Michiru song, Suite 610.
That's my shit mang. Shibuya-kei is basically the only genre I listen to these days, more-so the modernized version.

The best music to fuck bitches to.
I'm still waiting for a game that has Mika Nakashima singing the music. She does the best shibuya style jazz.

Hard as fuck to find her songs online. I own two of her best cds "Love" & "Star" so it doesn't matter for me. I'm only missing her debut album "True", which was the only other must have. I was hoping to link to her songs "Aroma", Candy Girl or "Baby, Baby, Baby."
Mika's last album sucked dick, she didn't even do any jazz. She actually doesn't for most of her albums aside for the first two &
Mika is fine as fuck. Married a giant 6'5 Jap guy with a moon face though.
Watching this Shibuya kei shit, you'll really be able to see where I get my style & swagger from. They even do a lot of David Lynch homages with their music videos.
I wish the Yakuza games used more of the Shibuya sound, they do sometimes but only in Yakuza 2. A little bit in Y4 with Akiyama & Tanimura.QUOTEHere's another Shibuya=kei classic. I fucking lvoe that unique jap swag.

I thought of Persona 1 back when I first heard this song in 1998. Reminds me of the Black market.
l like this song from the 3ds Mercs game.
It sounded very similar to the surreal techno beats that were popular during the 90s.
I miss this type of sound direction. It does a much better job of immersing you within the setting of the world because these tracks imbue the game with a personality that lets your imagination run wild with it. It's part of why gaming had more creativity back then, they focused more on implication to overide the abstract visuals whereas now games just copy movies. I vastly prefer the surreal tehcno sound of the 90s over the generic overpaid orchestra that plays the same exact fucking song from every movie you'rve ever seen, now you can hear that same fucking song that would sound more at home in a capeshit movie in every vidya game! Wot Joy!. -

Man, I feel you on how awesome old school techno was back in the 90's. It meshed with the games so well back then too. I also can't stand this generic orchestra focus. Don't get me wrong. I love instrumentals, symphonies and orchestras, but they throw them in games these days like they automatically are better music. I remember seeing Nintendo brag about how the music in Mario Kart 8 was all ochrestrated, and I was like "I don't care if its orchestrated, I just care if its good".
Orchestrated music has become subject to the tic box effect it seems like "open world", "cinematic" and "female protagonist". They just push it into games and automatically gets game review buffs.
Visuel Kei jazz, huh? I need to look up more of that. I love pretty much everything Jazz, especially, Jazzy hiphop. That's why the SF3 soundtracks are still my favorite in the series.
I fucking loved Devil Kazuya's theme from Tekken 2. After 3 the music started going downhill. Tag was mostly good, but 4, 5 and 6 had so many lackluster track, and I don't even want to get into the travesty that is Tag 2.
I think one of the things that made the old 90's games so great was that people were still looking ahead in wonder at what the future would bring. Techno just fit those chaotic, futuristic settings so well.
I'm glad that the days of dubstep have reached their end.. -

It's just called "Shibuya Kei" so you'll net the best results looking up that. I just add Jazz at the end to differentiate it from the gayass, and far more popular (on the internet) Rock version called "Visual Kei" I like rock, but I fucking hate Japanese rock. Aside from Sads, the vast majority of Jap rock is all style and no substance barely any of these fags can play more than 3 strings whereas the Jap hiphop jazz is some of the most creative & unique sounds I've ever heard. It sounded like the atmospheric hiphop that New York City was rocking during the 90s. It also reminds me of that British acid funk (Jamariquai) sound from the 90s.
Shiina Ringo & Pizzacato 5 are the most popular Shibuya Kei acts. At least back then. (Suchmos seems to be the most popular now.)
Everyone assumes that I listen to Ringo due to how I have a more jazzy taste in sound. I don't actually listen to her, but she's not bad. That Shiina song in particular tho, is muh jam. Great make-out music. LOL!
I'm more of a Mika Nakashima (the Jap female Frank Sinatra. She even has the gangster/yakuza connections just like how Sinatra was Mob deep.) fan. Too bad she's more known for her shitty ballads. I miss the 2002 era Mika when she first debuted, she was straight up Hiphop Jazz.
Acid jazz is basically what Shibuya Kei is, but it goes in two directions. The more cute surreal version like Pizacato 5 or the darker more New York City influenced sound of Monday Michiru who in fact did perform a few songs for Persona 5. I don't really like Pizzacato at all, although their music isn't bad. It's just not my scene. I'm into the more dark shit over the Hello Kitty sounding crap. Shiina Ringo is somewhere in the middle. Rumi is the complete dark side lol!
One of the first youtube results I see when I look up Shibuya Kei is Rumi, LOL!
I ddin't even know she was considered as Shibuya Kei although her music is very jazzy. Check that shit out. Rumi is the first verse, she's some insane demon worshipping slut and she flows like a fucking demon.
The second verse by Maria is also good. I have no idea who Maria is. I was fucking shocked that she has such great delivery though. I thought it was going to be a track where Rumi just dominates over everyone on the song like she usually does.
It's funny how outside of Japan, everyone thinks that the JRock is more popular when I see way more foreign fans into that shit over the rap. When it comes to the rap it's really just the 5 elements of hiphop enthusiasts from NYC & a few hardcore Hiphop heads from France & parts of Europe who are into the Jrap. THe majority of the fanbase is all locale japaanese, home grown. Probably due to the more politically charged content. (There's very few Japrap songs about love or dating or whatever is popular lol. It's extremely counter-culture, political insulting the government & mainstream culture just like how 90s American rap used to do it.) It's not that lame bubblegum quasi-poetic wannabe art shit that the Jrock is about.
I like FayRay's version of the Shibuya sound. It's more 80s pop influenced but she completely fucking rocks it!
She's actually an American from NYC just like Monday Michiru. Fayray moved on from Shibuya sound to more typical dry depressing Jazz. Fayray is back in NYC again and now she just makes full blown trippy drugged out makeout music lol. I
I don't even know what genre this type of music is. It has a Jazzy vibe, but it's done with synthesizers.
"Oh baby baby, It's just me & you. I don't care what they say. It's just me & you."
Her mellow smooth voice just gets dicks hard. Even better when you find out that she's some long haired sexy Japanese chick.
This song is from her Jpop days when she used to hit the Top 10 with each new release. Even that song is dark sounding as fuck.
I uploaded the ChenHong version. (Well Kax did, but I gave him the vid.)
It's weird how a woman who was so damn popular that practically everyone in Japan knew who she was is now so obscure & niche that only crazy assholes like me who bothered to look up what happened to her are even aware of what her current projects are like. She's now doing some extremely abstract, over sexualized shit. Fucking awesome.
I guess she always hated how conservative Japan is which is why she made sure after Same Night, Same Face to always be the one doing all of the writing for her songs. Every other song she did after that was depressing sounding as hell. (Great music though. Tears seems to be the most famous.) This new shit she's doing in the NYC is a lot more optimistic, but very sexualized.QUOTEI fucking loved Devil Kazuya's theme from Tekken 2. After 3 the music started going downhill. Tag was mostly good, but 4, 5 and 6 had so many lackluster track, and I don't even want to get into the travesty that is Tag 2.
T5 was the last gud Tekken ost. T4's wasn't bad at all but it's more of an atmospheric ost. Even the Shinjuku stage in T4 used a Shibuya Kei sound.
I wish the Yakuza series had more sounds that sound like that. FOr some reason they're only used during the Osaka stages which makes no sense to me. The entire series takes place in Shibuya.QUOTETechno just fit those chaotic, futuristic settings so well.
Holy shit that Einhander song sounds just like Wong's theme.
This is what 90s era Gangsta rap used to sound like. Which is why I so into it. Sounds like it came straight out of a horror movie.
That's one of my fave Maken songs. Industrial techno done right. Although Doom 2016 has a lot of great tracks done in that style.
Taht Xmen 2 track goes down hard. I miss the days when vidya gaem music sounded that damn brutal.
Wasteland 2's battle music has a similar style, but it's more restrained.
It doesn't sound liek the complete chaos that the sega sound chip often provided.
Doom 2016 does come close though.
It sounds very similar to the Maken X/Shao France themes.. -

Man, Persona 5 has some pretty catchy tracks on it when I actually sit down and listen to them. But then I love Jazz. Too bad the characters themselves in the game were mostly boring and crappy. The one bad thing about it.

That's been happening to me a lot too. Pisses me off because it some times take me an hour or two to write these damn posts. This forum is also constantly out of service everytime I try to check up on it so I just say fuck it and shitpost on 4chan /v/. The only places on the net that are even remotely similar to what the PH51 forum was are Sean Malstrom & Conflicting View's blogs. I can't think of any actual forums that have a similar culture or mindset so I have to resort to hanging out with annoying /v/irgins who don't even play games.QUOTEShall we go back to old forums?(
I've been telling you mothafuckas that we should simply because the other site has more exposure. It could probably attract more lurkers into actually posting if it was more than just me posting over there. It also has the benefit of other threads which aren't game related at all. You're going to have to ask Xed to give you admin powers though coz I can't do it. It won't let me because I'm not a founder. I abandoned my original account back in 2012 due to an investigation.
I was the one who initially thought we should come back here, but I completely forgot just how malfunctional this site is. It's almost always down at least once every single day. The posting system is weird, it doesn't allow you to double post. It'll combine all of your posts into one big hard to read post if you don't wait at least a day to write a new post. Sometimes when you edit your posts, the entire fucking post gets deleted. As Krizz pointed out, this happens even when you try to write a new post. I think it's related to post length.
I leave the descision up to you. I gotta go back to making actual site content since I have a lot to work with ever since owning a PS4. (It allows you to take screen shots & videos of games you play.) I have more than enough content to last for a year since my style has always been to update once or twice a year, but with yuge updates that have shit tons of content to wade through. It also helps that I completed two long ass games in their entirety, Nioh & Yakuza 0 and also have a lot of content saved on them.. -

I was going to re post some posts over there by the end of the week.
Nobody is going to fucking jump in if I'm the only one posting. It used to work back them but that's because back then there was visual proof that people used the site unlike now where you just have to be there at the right time.
When I checked in to grab a url for the Sonic thread, I saw six mothafuckas mang. That's more than what this site gets but nobody is posting. Fucking faggot lurkers.

I guess fools felt more encouraged to post back then because the site would display everyone who dropped by so you'd normally see about 1000 people who checked in during the day whereas now you don't see shit because the forum intentionally makes it look smaller than it actually is.
Whereas this Super Mario forum does try to show you full stats, but it will shut down if you have too many people using it. Unfortunately about 5 - 10 people is what it considers as too much lol.QUOTEdamn i had to repost this due to timeout shit

I just saw 9 people at the PH51 forum when I tried to copy & paste some replies from here to over there..
